But it has a few specific needs that differ from conventional fabrics. Here's everything you need to know to keep your Eternal Agape pieces looking and feeling their best, wash after wash — for you, and for the planet.

Why Recycled Fabrics Need Special Care

Recycled fibers are engineered for performance — moisture-wicking, compressive, and color-retaining. But heat, harsh detergents, and friction are their enemies. The good news? Caring for them is simple once you know the rules.

The Golden Rules

• Wash cold, always. Hot water breaks down elastic fibers and fades prints. Cold water (30°C/86°F or below) preserves stretch, shape, and color.
• Turn inside out. This protects the outer print and reduces pilling from friction against other garments.
• Use a gentle, eco detergent. Avoid fabric softeners — they coat the fibers and destroy moisture-wicking properties. A small amount of mild, pH-neutral detergent is all you need.
• Skip the dryer. Heat is the #1 enemy of recycled activewear. Air dry flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight.
• Wash after every wear. Sweat and body oils degrade elastic fibers over time. A quick cold wash keeps them fresh and extends their life significantly.
• Wash separately or in a mesh bag. Zippers, velcro, and rough fabrics cause pilling. A mesh laundry bag is a game-changer.

What About Swimwear?

For recycled swimwear, rinse immediately after every use — chlorine and saltwater are harsh on fibers. Hand wash with cool water and a gentle soap, reshape, and lay flat to dry. Never wring or twist.

Storage Tips

Fold, don't hang. Hanging stretchy fabrics over time causes them to lose their shape. Store folded in a drawer, away from direct sunlight.
